Would I be able to use styrofoam balls as a base rather than newspaper and masking tape?

You're welcome, Bob. I think you use those products in various combinations, yourself.

By the way, you might have some suggestions for kyoung, over in the forum. She's making a chimera and is asking for comments. You always have such great suggestions...

Nice quick technique Jonni and I was delighted to read about your home made recipe for tinted gesso and the technique on how to use and paint with it, very nice indeed. Thank you.

Hi again. I like masking tape because it's cheap and easy to reposition if you put something in the wrong place. But I'm sure other types of tape will work as well. It's all going to be covered up anyway.

I hope you let us see your birds when they're done.

Thank you so much for making this page, I am ready to get started now. Just one more question, can a tape other than masking tape be used?

Love the Blue-bird. I don't think it would be too hard to turn it into a cardinal, would it?
Just needs a crest and some red paint.

Can you imagine a tree covered in a full array of birds of different colors?!
